We started ReRoll about a month and a half ago thinking we should do a monthly event for us and our friends — the expectation was that maybe 15 people will come.
We had no idea that it would turn into a regular series of events, with almost a 100 people showing up.

We (Kaushik, Mithun and I) started this with the hopes of getting more people interested in board games, and we’ve succeeded in that, to a degree.

The problem with how we do our board game events right now, is that it’s designed and streamlined only for lighter, short, party games(Avalon, Codenames, Ca$h n Guns, Spaceteam). People come, socialise, play a series of 20–30 minute games, and then go home.

It’s a great way to get beginners hooked — but we haven’t figured out how to build a ramp for them to get to try longer, deeper, more complex games. Which is honestly where board games really shine.

Introducing Tabletop Thurday

So we decided to start a weekly Meetup!

Our focus here is to try longer games, in a more relaxed setting. Instead of people jumping from table to table playing games every 20 minutes, the hope is that people will sit down and play a session of Ticket to Ride, Blood Rage, Settlers of Catan, Game of Thrones, etc.

We expect this to be a smaller turn out for maybe 10–15 people every week, but we’re hoping they’ll be more regular — and want to come back weekly to try something new. If they find a good group, maybe they’ll spin off their own game sessions outside our event. That is what we would love to see.

Games Khopcha, Koramangala was nice enough to host this weekly. They are a board game cafe with a pretty decent collection of games. They charge a flat entry fee of Rs 150/day. Which is dirt cheap for what they offer. I mean, look at this place.

Yeah, that’s a hexagonal carom board.

If this looks interesting to you, you can join our Facebook Group, Meetup Group or WhatsApp Group to RSVP for our the next one.
